The Flag and The Note

While at the beach each year,

we hike to a special spot, taking an American flag with us,

While at the top of the mountain,

Larry hangs a flag and note on the lean to.

The note asks a Veteran to accept this flag

in honor of our Uncle Bruce.

Bruce was one of my favorite people in the world

and

this is our way of remembering him and honoring him each year.

In the note, I ask a veteran to write to us if he or she feels comfortable.

The past years, I have always heard from the recipient of the flag.

Our 2017 hike, on Kaua’i, was two weeks ago

and

I have not heard from anyone. ……Yet.

But I hope we hear something soon.

Life at home is getting back to normal.

Jet lag is diminishing,

we miss Libby pug dog like crazy

and

Camp Robi starts again tomorrow.

Onward and upward!

Please do me a favor?

Today, tell someone special in your life how much they mean to you.

Love you, YOU are special.

Another Birthday Down

Birthdays are wonderful.

Larry loves my birthday but hates his own.

I cannot understand that.

But I love his day too.

We had a picnic on my birthday at a favorite spot.

Watching this makes me feel a lot of different feelings.

How beautiful this world is.

Our moments, our family, our love.

There is no room for hate.

There is only room for love.

Another birthday down.

It is going to me a wonderful year.

Love you beyond the candles.

Friends

While we were away on holiday,

we had the pleasure of spending time with good friends.

Good friends are a special gift.

They know you very well, but they are NOT family.

How awesome is that?

Here are Larry and Bill

at

The Eating House restaurant on Kaua’i.

Bill is the boyfriend of  Lori.

{you can see Lori’s hand on the right}

they are two of the sweetest people

on the face off the earth.

At dinner on this night…we laughed. A lot.

And closed the restaurant down.

Some things are just so good, so wonderful

that they do not need to be explained.

Like the edamame appetizer…

Larry,this still makes me laugh.

Love you.

Before and After

Before Larry and I left for the beach,

the family met for my birthday brunch.

This is my favorite photo from the morning.

Then Larry and I left for the Islands

where we enjoyed being lazy,

enjoyed the company of good friends

hiked and swam.

Now it is awesome to be home….

except for the jet-lag

Love you.

A Well Known Secret

Five years ago,

while I was waiting to be operated on

for breast cancer.

{yes, I was at the hospital waiting to taken back}

My Larry said:

Five years is a long time.

Lets plan something do do in five years to celebrate

if you are still cancer free.

I said:

The perfect celebration would be high tea.

A well known secret is, how much I enjoy having tea with friends and family.

Larry said:

We will celebrate every year with High Tea,

but on year five, it must be something special.

I said:

Tea at Kensington Palace?

{photo: we were in London for tea, my birthday, 2007}

Larry said:

Perfect!

This morning, after five  long years,

Larry made reservations for Tea,

at the Orangerie at Kensington Palace.

Later in the summer, we will fly away to London

and

celebrate being cancer free for five years.

Each year on the date of my surgery, we have high tea locally.

This year, a few weeks AFTER my anniversary date,

we will fly to London.

{because I an superstitious}

Tea will be at Kensington Palace.

Cancer. I kicked your ass.

Love you.

And Read Of Course

Last week,

Larry had to go to Orlando, FLA for work.

He asked if I would like to join him.

I said: Yes.

Getting away was not really needed, I am doing fine.

This was our sweet room.

I loved it.

The room overlooked the pool

and

was cozy enough to cuddle in and read for hours.

Today I am home

and it is a rainy , rainy day.

I think I will escape and have a pedicure and manicure.

And read, of course.

Love you.

Camp Robi Week One

We had the best weekend…

starting with Camp Robi on Friday.

Matilda got her hair cut at the Salon.

Amanda is our Hair ARTist…

and we have known her since she was a teenager.

{and is an amazing person with a huge heart}

After the hair cut

Camper, Matilda needed food.

Chik Fil A was the perfect lunch.

Then, as per schedule, we went to a  Butterfly house.

It was amazing…and Ma Cherie is a Butterfly tamer!

{she knows so much about the timeline of a butterfly}

After what seems hours in the hot butterfly house,

Matilda played on the playground

and

bought candy, better known as survivor food.

It was a perfect Camp Robi Day

***

It was a rainy holiday weekend in Texas.

Larry bought me a…swan.

If we had a family crest, it would have a swan on it.

Sunday, Dinner and Movie

Taco Bueno and The Longest Day.

We first saw

The Longest Day while in Normandy years ago.

I think that it is my favorite “war” movie.

Have you ever seen it?

Have a blessed Memorial Day.

Love you.
