My older daughter had a birthday last Saturday. We celebrated for days, but honestly, I was anxious to give her my gift.
Larry gave her a lovely concrete garden bench for the butterfly garden and we had a few other things for her but I waited for her birthday dinner to give her my gift.
On Saturday, we went to their house, had hot dogs and cake by the fire pit…while she opened the family gifts. Then she opened the gift I was excited about. I think that she loved it.
The MOMA (Museum Of Modern ART) created a series of Van shoes…and I bought her the Wassily Kandinsky shoes. The were released in August 2020 and are very difficult to find in 2021, but I found a pair! When the shoes arrived I did research on the painting that they are based on. It is titled “Orange”…..and I painted a canvas to match…..but by Tolbert. I loved learning more about Kandinsky. His paintings seem simple but in reality, are complex and confusing. I enjoyed the process of making a companion piece for the shoes.
It was a fun birthday gift to work on and now she has her shoes and painting.
Birthday’s are the best of all holidays. Do you remember a favorite birthday?
Love you beyond the moon.
Me.
What a perfect birthday gift!
