Dear Katie Couric, Welcome to Team Believe

Dear Katie Couric,

Good morning. My name is Robin Tolbert, and I have been thinking about you since the announcement came out this week, sharing that you had been diagnosed with breast cancer, had surgery and treatment. I wanted to officially welcome you to Team Believe.

It is October 1st and that means Breast Cancer Awareness Month has begun. Each October, I agitate my readers with statistics and reminders to have their screenings. Early detection saves lives, it has saved mine twice.

My first experience was almost exactly like yours. (even the timing of surgery and treatment) My tumor was also bigger than expected, like yours and treatment identical. I am so glad that you are doing well and moving forward in the best way possible. It is often difficult after hearing the word cancer. Life will never quite be the same.

I am the Mother of two beautiful daughters and one amazing granddaughter. Along with my husband, sons in laws and loving friends, we make up the very supportive and positive TEAM BELIEVE.

During this process, life has dramatic ups and downs. To be a survivor, it is just part of the job. Surrounding yourself with people who understand, is a gift you can give yourself…but I am sure that you already know these things.

Well, Katie. here is what I have learned being a two time survivor: Do everything that your DR says, Listen to your body, Laugh out loud every day, Share your breast cancer experience with others, Cry when you feel like it-cancer is NOT FAIR, and remember that love is the best medicine.

Thank you for allowing me to write to you on the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness month and know that so many of us have you in our thoughts and prayers as your continue your breast cancer journey.

Welcome to TEAM BELIEVE….

Always, Robin

Team Believe Lives

One week in October, I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in my life and a few days later, a tree fell into our house.

Because of these things, we postponed our trip to France to stay home, have the house fixed, have surgery and start cancer treatment.

I feel deflated. I could not go on blogging / journaling without sharing the things happening in our life.

Sharing this news is always difficult. It is 2019 and people still gossip about cancer. I dread so many things over the next months, so, please if there is a crazy post on Blog, forgive me and we can blame it on the meds.

TEAM BELIEVE LIVES

Love you beyond the pink ribbons.

Thank You Gladys Knight

It was a busy, kind of OK weekend for us. Even the Super Bowl was a dud. The Super Bowl was a bore, but in all of the chatter about it today, I did not hear one word about Gladys Knight.

Awesome, wonderful, Gladys Knight and the National Anthem. She looked beautiful, she sang like she was 20 years old and presented a class act in a difficult atmosphere. The U.S. Air Force Fly Over made me cry. These were my favorite moments of the Super Bowl.

Today is World Cancer Day. I wanted to share, as we have all been touched by the disease in a profound way.

This weekend, Larry and I picked up the new Team Believe Shirts. They are perfect. Soon, I will post the information where to buy one if you are interested. The information will be on the “Team Believe” page. {the link is on the menu above}

So, on this Monday morning, I would like to say thank you. Your energy keeps me moving, your faith is my blessing and your kindness in the face of hate and anger, inspires me to be a better person.

Love you.

Yesterday, I registered My Larry and myself for the 2019 Komen North Texas Race. It will be held at “The Star” in Frisco, Texas on May 18, 2019. This is my annual renewal of dedication & promise and to encourage “Early Detection”…plus a 5K. Please find the link to my Komen page above.

I honestly don’t know if I will auction/raffle anything off this year. My thinking cap has been on strike some time now. All suggestions are welcome. {Please}

Excuse the wrinkles, but I dug an old Team Believe shirt out of the closet this morning. The new Team believe shirts will be much like this one, but a little different. They will be available to order {from the T-shirt Company} in a few weeks. I will let you know the details after the prototypes are complete.

The Photo below is of the back of the vintage Tee. This is my original design and I entered it into a contest years ago. I did not win, but the people who sponsored the contest decided to use the design and profit from my work. I know that entering a contest relinquishes my copyright but…crap. I just hate when that happens.

A forever thank you goes to my friends who have been such an amazing support during treatment and even now. I love and adore you all.
