Fabric and Documentaries

This week, I was busy making a garment….a cocktail dress. While I worked, I watched a DOC on Netflix. It was very good. Let me start by saying, I have never read an AMY TAN book…..I accidently fell across this/her documentary and enjoyed every moment of it. Amy Tan the author, will have books in my TBR pile now…..

I loved learning how brave Amy was and how her writing came to be. On a few different levels, she made me feel encouraged and positive. I will watch it again soon. Just to catch up on the little things that I missed…..

Next book on my reading list, THE JOY LUCK CLUB.

Love you beyond the moon.

Sewing Dresses, Again

I started sewing a new dress. Again. It is my favorite pattern, McCall’s 7969. (View A) There is a group of us on Instagram who are fans of this pattern and make it often. It is fun to see how others interpret the pattern and the fabrics that they use. In other countries, the fabrics are very different. It always inspires me.

I started the dress yesterday and will finish it today. The directions are easy and the overall pattern is uncomplicated. I enjoy making the dress very much and it will be prefect for a get away to the beach!

Photo: I chose a bright red-orange batik for this dress

I do not often wear bright colors, but this fabric piece caught my eye. It is wonderful to work with being 100% cotton.

Here is wishing you a bright, happy, uncomplicated day.

Love you beyond the moon.

The Organic Kind

The days have been cloudy with migraine headaches. I am not sure if I had the flu or just a series of headaches that caused flu like symptoms. Either way I was miserable, throwing up and in bed.

Today is a much better day. I have worked on a recipe and organized a pattern that I will make into a top.

The recipe is mine, but is based on a French treat we had while on Holiday this year.
{Larry could not get enough of the treat so I promised myself that I would recreate it here, and surprise him}

The sun is out and the day is cool. it was a perfect day to play in the kitchen. Using ecrous, and spices, I made a double batch of a roasted, healthy treat….

Larry is in Dallas working. I cannot wait for him to come home and try the ecrous! {the nuts!}

I found the pattern below on Etsy. It is my “go to” place for vintage patterns. It is exactly what I had in mind for jeans, but will test it out with the fun {dog} flannel fabric. I do not often wear fabric with “things” on it. This will be interesting.

The aroma of roasted nuts is driving me crazy. I guess I should try one. Or two.

I wish you a happy day, filled with lots of nuts. The organic kind.

Love you.
