The Life Balance

Yesterday was a strange day for me. So much oddness keeps putting me off balance.

I was ready for bed and was walking to the kitchen for a glass of water…when I saw Larry……

He was at the patio door…..laughing. He had said, what a beautiful night, when he opened the door. I said, please dont keep the door open and let anything in. (I meant mosquitoes or moths…) But when he the door opened, there in the middle of the patio was a little possum, stopped in his tracks!

Larry was laughing so hard with the door open, I was sure that baby possum was going to join is in the house. But when baby possum regained his composure, he scurried away before I could get a photo.. I was glad because I dislike possums.

The neighborhood where our little Cottage is situated, is surrounded by big trees, lakes, creeks and wildlife. River otters swim in the lake and bats fly high at dusk. A feral cat comes by every few days to drink out of the bird bath and sleep in the gazebo.

I am ashamed to say, I have been taking things like this for granted recently. Perhaps baby possum stopped by to remind me that life is a fine tuned balance…

Love you beyond the moon.

Indescribable

On Saturday, Matilda and I made a video for North/West Texas Komen Walk as a shout out for TEAM BELIEVE.

I am not good at things like this, but Matilda is a pro and she loves it. (and comes by it naturally)

In 4 weeks (Sept 12th, 2020) the Dream A Dream Quilt will be raffled off. If you are interested and would like to donate To TEAM BELIEVE….please go to the link below and find the information.

If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected]

I took a few shots of the quilt today. It is twin size and hand made by me.

The mermaid block reads…..

“Close your eyes and dream a dream and seek the courage to make it real.

Reflect on the past, envision the future and embrace today with an open heart and soul.”

I loved making this quilt….I made it during treatments for my latest breast cancer journey. The positive feelings that this quilt gave me are indescribable. My wish is, that the positive energy stays with it forever.

I have been fighting breast cancer since July 2012. Now I am in remission.

I found both of my cancers due to early detection. That is why I support Komen. Every woman has the right to have a screening (mammogram) ….it is a matter of life and death. I am the poster girl for early detection.

Dream A Dream Quilt is ready…..please consider supporting early detection. (and becoming the new owner of a quilt)

Love you beyond the stars and moon.

Sunday Dinner and Movie

Sunday dinner and a movie this week, was in honor of my Mother. Her birthday was August 6th. We made one of her favorite meals…and used my Grandmothers dishes.

Larry and I made my Mothers favorite meatballs.

We enjoyed good bread…..

The wine was Spanish and our movie was Another Thin Man,

We toasted Mother and enjoyed dinner very much.

Dessert was brownies and icecream.

It is good to remember the special people who have touched our lives.

So much has happened…Larry asked, why aren’t you bitter?

I answered, I am sad at how hateful people can be…but bitter would only hurt my heart.

Besides , life goes on and it is within our power how we want to go forward…….

Love you beyond the moon.

Hiking In The Rain

Last night I woke up and could not go back to sleep. (I was dreaming about being at the beach) Larry and I have not been to the beach in one year….and we are missing it terribly. (Our daily swims and hikes are the best ever)

My Grandfather was a physician and believed that sea/salt water had healing properties that could make you feel wonderful. I need the sea. Badly.

Here is a web site for our favorite hikes on Kauai.

https://www.hawaii-guide.com/kauai/hiking-trails

A couple of the hikes are very difficult for me, but I always go as far as I can. Every step is a beautiful experience. Being on the island is where I feel best. Always.

I have been feeling down about not spending time at the beach, Larry looked at me yesterday and said: Not to worry. I have made plans. Reservations and all extras have been planned. Get your bikini ready for February. (IF we can travel by then)

That is all that he would say. (this is why I was dreaming of the sea) I am not fond of surprises, but this is one that I will grab with both hands. Ahhhhhhh. The Sea.

Love you beyond the moon.

Robin’s August 2020 book is….

By Barbara O’Neal

The synopsis reads:

Her sister has been dead for fifteen years when she sees her on the TV news…Josie Bianci was killed years ago on a train during a terrorist attack. Gone forever. It’s what her sister, Kit, an ER doctor in Santa Cruz, has always believed. Yet all it takes is a few heart-wrenching seconds to upend Kit’s world. Live coverage of a club fire in Auckland has captured the image of a woman stumbling through the smoke and debris. Her resemblance to Josie is unbelievable. And unmistakable. With it comes a flood of emotions—grief, loss, and anger—that Kit finally has a chance to put to rest: by finding the sister who’s been living a lie.

I liked ( May I say LOVED?) this book very much. The characters were sensitive and I connected right away. The underlying mystery spurred me to read even faster. The 348 pages went very fast. The story was contemporary and thought provoking. I would share more but spoilers are allowed on this site. Wink.

When We Believed In Mermaids was published July 2019. I am so glad that I read it as soon as I could. Have you read, When We Believed in Mermaids? Do you want to read it? Please share your thoughts below in the comment section.

I rate this book…

Five Daisies……..

Till next book, Robin

Matilda’s 9th Birthday

Yesterday was Matilda’s 9th birthday. Matilda, Lars and Josh were on vacation so we drove up to the cabin to celebrate.

It takes about 3 hours to drive to the cabin from Plano. The day was beautiful and the country drive was calming.

We arrived to the birthday girl and lots of hugs. For lunch we had pizza, Champagne (Sprite for Matilda) and birthday cake. After cake, GIFTS!

She blew out 9 candles and one to grow on. Then, she informed us that she would NOT share her wish because it would not come true if she did.

The day went by at record speed. Matilda is growing into such a charming spirit. I LOVE being around her. Her energy is a gift to me every time that I am near her..

Larry and Matilda played air hockey and pool. Then,we said our goodbyes and Larry & I walked quietly to the car, holding hands.

The day went by so fast, except for the 3 hours ride home to Plano.

Love you beyond the moon.

Camp Robi~ Day One

Last Monday was the first day of Camp Robi. We picked up Matilda at 9 AM and brought her to the cottage. She unpacked and was sweet and happy.

We were all excited. Even Larry had taken a vacation week for camp!

Each year we do a camp puzzle and we also do the Word Of The Day……

As we all were happy and excited to be together, we stuck to the schedule that I made and even had time to, go fishing!

It was a long, fun day. We ordered Golden Chick for dinner and settled in for the night.

It was a perfect first day at camp.

Love you beyond the moon.

Only For Me

Yesterday was wonderful. Larry and I caught up on all of the chores and then we had dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant in Dallas. We are required to wear masks in Dallas but not in Plano. We wore our masks to dinner last night. It was still awesome.

I am hoping that followers soon find Blog. Weeks ago, I would post the link to blog on Facebook daily. Since Facebook is closed up, not many people hit the site. When I shared the link it was very convenient. Larry laughs at me, reminding me that I write this journal only for me…and no one else. It is true.

Have a lovely day. Please be kind and share the love.

Love you beyond the moon.

Camp Mail

It is true. I have a passion for REAL mail. I love to write it and receive it in our sweet mailbox. I think that Matilda loves to write letters too…

Camp has started. It has been amazing and to be honest, just being with Matilda is a joy.

We have a camp mailbox and every day, we write notes to each other.Matilda made the mailbox and gave us instructions for the notes to kind and full of happy. (She made the box on Fathers Day and filled it with notes for Larry. We are recycling).

The mail is opened each evening. We are keeping our own mail, I will save the notes in my memory book and keep them forever.

Life is truly about the simple things in life, isn’t it?

Love you beyond the moon.
