The Power Of Flowers

Photo: The flower arrangement from Matilda, Lauren and Josh

Ever since I have been old enough to receive flowers, I have had a problem. Throwing them away is always a sad day for me.

When I was about 19, Larry first sent me roses…I kept them in my room, in the vase, (dead and dry) for months. My Mother accused me of acting like an old Victorian lady, hoarding flowers from a beau. I did not know what she meant then, but I do now. I am a flower hoarder.

This past week, each morning, (after surgery), when I would slowly get up and move around, the flowers were here to greet me in their own way. I adore flowers and what they mean. They have been part of my recovery. (and encouraged me to get better in their own special way.)

It has been a week and a half since my surgery. The amazing flower arrangements that were sent to me last week are slowly fading and getting ready to say good bye. I always dread this time….

Fact: I carry the flowers around the house as I go from room to room. It is almost like having a friend right beside you during a difficult time.

Never underestimate the power of flowers.

Love you beyond the moon.

Make It Real

Yesterday was a “Blue Thursday”. I have noticed that on any “Blue” day, blessings come from nowhere to support and remind me of what is important.

Yesterday I tried to keep busy. I walked two miles. {that is all I can manage right now} I worked on a baby gift for a dear friend in Germany, am planning a new quilt project and cooked a fun, late dinner. Oh and we went to Costco and bought a bunch of STUFF.

Larry worked all day and I took advantage of stealing him away on his lunch hour. I did get a lot done yesterday but it does not feel like it at all.

My new project is still in the works. I have so many ideas about it, that it gets confusing.

Happy Friday. Happy February tomorrow, happy weekend and don’t forget to make it real.

Love you beyond the moon.

The Unexpected Change In My Day

Yesterday was a beautiful day,

despite the tragedy around us.

I worked all day on various projects

keeping my mind and body occupied.

{will show you a new fun project once it is finished}

It took me forever to get the laundry done.

I missed Libby Pug Dog a lot.

Maybe, I was just in a grumpy mood?

Then while I was folding laundry….the doorbell rang.

DARN IT. Interruption!

But it was something good.

Flowers.

Oh My Gosh!

A huge,beautiful arrangement from Karen & John.

{we had dinner with Karen and John on Saturday. They were visiting from Atlanta}

The arrangement made my day.

This thoughtful gift changed my attitude immediately.

I have texted Karen and told her that,

but sometimes, people just say that.

Yesterday…

someone did something kind and it

changed my day.

Dear Karen & John.

Your friendship means so much to us

and

One day I hope to be as kind and thoughtful as you both are.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Love you.

PS: Last night, I took the flowers back to the bedroom with me.

They look beautiful on the table next to the big bed.

Larry laughed at me.
