The Spice Of Life

Photo: Spice of Life project for Komen Race For A Cure

I adore Williams Sonoma. It is an inspirational shopping mecca that is my “happy place”……

It is because of my love for Williams Sonoma dish towels, that I buy and embroider, that this years give away will be a hand embroidered dish towel {in progress above} and a $100.00 gift card for Williams Sonoma. {Larry is generously donating the gift card. Thank you Larry}

For each $25.00 donated to my Komen page, your name will go into the bowl. Your first name, last initial and how many tickets you have earned, will be listed on the Team Believe page. {above on the menu}

The drawing will be held on Saturday May 11, 2019. You may make donations anytime between now and then. Please use your name on the Komen page, that way I can have a record of your donation and accurately manage your tickets . Thank you so much!

The Komen North Texas {Dallas} race will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 at The Star in Frisco Texas. The link to my Komen page is below and it is also on the Team Believe page.

Team Believe and Early Detection

Good morning dear ones.

My Larry has declared this an anniversary.

Last year, on this date, I was 5 years cancer free.

I have been informed that now the celebrations REALLY  start.

{Larry is so amazing}

Six years ago, my tumor was removed…

and

I have stayed breast cancer free since that day.

 My breast cancer was discovered, because a friend had been diagnosed.

It was in her honor, that I had a random mammogram.

It is that mammogram, that i had “by chance”

that we found  my tumor.

Now, I need you to do me a favor. Please.

If you have not had a screening this year, please go?

Remind your friends, women and men.

Early detection saved my life.

It saved my life.

Love you.

From The Moment I Woke Up

Yesterday! I celebrated my last oncology appointment.

Dr S is my favorite Doc

and hugging him good bye was a milestone.

My Larry has taken such good care of me.

To be honest,

in these past 5 years a lot of merde has happened.

Things that happen in your life ,

you just want to hang your head and give up.

But between Larry and Dr S,

I wanted to do everything to get better.

***

We had tickets for a concert and picnic at the Arboretum yesterday.

Larry even had a cheese plate ready.

It was damp outside and gloomy…

honestly I just wanted to stay home.

So we had a picnic in bed.

Lets be honest,

there is something so special about Champagne in bed.

I made little grilled cheese sandwiches out of Hawaiian rolls

and

we had salad.

Larry made many toasts…and we smiled a lot.

Yesterday, I celebrated.

From the moment I woke, till I fell asleep last night.

It was my last day as a  cancer patient.

Now I am just like every other Paddington  Bear on the street.

Life is wonderful!

Love you.

London~Day One

It is good to be home.

Maybe.

We had  a good trip,

the reality of coming home is overwhelming.

It was London…what can I say?

Five years ago, while waiting to have breast cancer surgery

Larry asked what could we do to focus on

and

make the 5 year recovery go faster?

I told him that I would like to go to London

and have tea.

That is exactly what we did this past week.

Over the years, we invited friends and family to join us

but

you know how busy everyone is….

We arrived at our sweet flat early….cleaned ourselves up ,

and headed to the British Museum

where we had tickets for an important exhibit.

The Hokusai exhibit!

It was a beautiful day outside,

the museum was crazy busy and wonderful.

I was struck at the beauty of the building…

and how kind everyone was.

***

We had lunch in  the museum restaurant….

Dessert in the mezzanine

and while waiting in the que….

a man and teenager breezed by us to the members que….

It was Liam Neeson!

The moment went fast, but it was  kind of neat.

I was tired.

And we headed back to our flat.

{located on a Mews}

Day one….I was a tired mess

but very happy..and Larry kept hugging me.

Life is really wonderful.

I love you more than candy.

A Well Known Secret

Five years ago,

while I was waiting to be operated on

for breast cancer.

{yes, I was at the hospital waiting to taken back}

My Larry said:

Five years is a long time.

Lets plan something do do in five years to celebrate

if you are still cancer free.

I said:

The perfect celebration would be high tea.

A well known secret is, how much I enjoy having tea with friends and family.

Larry said:

We will celebrate every year with High Tea,

but on year five, it must be something special.

I said:

Tea at Kensington Palace?

{photo: we were in London for tea, my birthday, 2007}

Larry said:

Perfect!

This morning, after five  long years,

Larry made reservations for Tea,

at the Orangerie at Kensington Palace.

Later in the summer, we will fly away to London

and

celebrate being cancer free for five years.

Each year on the date of my surgery, we have high tea locally.

This year, a few weeks AFTER my anniversary date,

we will fly to London.

{because I an superstitious}

Tea will be at Kensington Palace.

Cancer. I kicked your ass.

Love you.
