A Bloggers Touch

When I wake in the mornings, I always check my phone to see if there were any emergencies during the night. This morning, while waiting to hear the headline news, I looked at my Instagram. One of the people/companies/etc. that I follow, had a new post. I love when cat_in_france posts.

This mornings post was personal and it touched me so deeply that I asked Larry to read it, and he never “does” anything Instagram! But he did this morning.

Jared’s Belated Birthday

It was a lovely weekend. Larry and I got a lot done around the cottage and we had special guests for dinner on Saturday night.

Jamison and Jared came to celebrate Jared’s belated birthday. (We had reservations in Dallas for a special dinner celebration with him, but he requested coming to The Cottage for dinner instead) I really have not felt like cooking lately, so we got take away pizzas and wings. I made a loaf of bread and a layered salad to go with the pizzas. Jared had a brilliant idea about dessert and he and Jami brought the ingredients for dessert.

I loved Jamison and Jared being here and birthdays are always the best.

Birthdays always mark time for me. I cannot help but wonder what this next year has in store for us.

There are a few important birthdays looming ahead. I have already mailed off the boxes and cards. I mailed them unusually early..and honestly don’t know why.

Three more days left to September…….enjoy!

Perhaps All Four

Last week, when Matilda spent the weekend at The Cottage, she found this huge leaf. (Including stem it is about 18″ long)

I have kept it and think of her each time I look at it.

Photo: Matilda’s Leaf

This leaf makes me think of Matilda, Robert Frost and the poem, Nothing Gold Can Stay.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

by Robert Frost

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

What is this poem truly about? Nature? Friendship? Love? A Creative Spirit? Perhaps all four? Perhaps something else?

Mr Chive Got A Trim

Yesterday I trimmed the herbs. Chive had finished blooming and was exploding on the patio. He had a healthy trim. I threw the trimmings into the lawn. I am telling you this because…..look who picked up some of the trimmings!

The photo is a bit of a blur, but he was looking at me when I walked into the kitchen this morning.

My days have been pleasant. Remission is my core word, I walk 30 minutes a day, Larry and I talk a lot, I journal my daily diet and I take time to be creative (in some way) each day and read for at least one hour a day.

Moving forward in a positive way is a gift you can give yourself. The negativity in our lives right now is debilitating. It can stop you in your tracks and bring you down.

This morning, my devotional, looked like this….

After my past few days, this was a perfect reminder. (I do not understand why people from our past, come out from under their rocks and tweak us with their unhappiness.) Moving on, while leaving toxic people behind, is a relief for your soul.

Today is what we have been given. What will you do with it?

Some Moments

Yesterday, we had a wonderful guest at the cottage. It was Matilda, the best granddaughter, was here for the day.

Some days, having a 9 year old in the house is just what I need. Her energy is beyond reproach and the joy that she brings to us is extraordinary.

Larry worked all day and Matilda was guest blogger yesterday! Did you happen to read her post? It was perfection.

Last night, driving Matilda home, we stopped for ice cream.

Some happy moments are just to difficult to describe. Just look at that face!

I hope that you find some joy in the moments of today….if we look hard enough, they are there.

Love you beyond the moon and stars.

Arkansas State Park Adventure

On Friday, Larry and I hopped into the car for a day trip. We drove to Murfreesboro, Arkansas, where Crater Of Diamonds State Park is located. (upper left corner of the map)

Photo: Arkansas map

It took about 4 hours one way from Dallas to the State Park. Friday was a beautiful day and I loved being in the car with Larry. (7 1/2 hours!)

We took our shovels and bucket. There were not many people (they only allow a certain number of people into the park daily) and it was not hard to social distance.

The dirt is turned and then you just sift and dig. I honestly did not know what I was looking for…..

Larry and I talked, a lot and sifted dirt….it was the ultimate meditation. We cannot wait to do it again.

Larry found a tiny treasure…..but even if we had not found anything, it would have been the best day ever.

Monday mornings are the start of a brand new week. (Yay or bla?) I am dressed to go to the dentist for a teeth cleaning. I dread it…but just think. By the time you read this, my appointment will be over and I will be home.

Love you beyond the moon and stars.

Adventure!

I am posting from the car this morning. Larry has taken the day off and we are going on an adventure. He needed to get away. Four hours from Dallas away. Yay!

Jamison gave this framed poster to me. It is in my studio and every day, when I see it, I am inspired and feel loved. Perhaps today it will make you smile.

Have a happy, wonderful day. See you after the adventure.

Love you beyond the moon an stars.
