Wassily Kandinsky And Me

My older daughter had a birthday last Saturday. We celebrated for days, but honestly, I was anxious to give her my gift.

Larry gave her a lovely concrete garden bench for the butterfly garden and we had a few other things for her but I waited for her birthday dinner to give her my gift.

On Saturday, we went to their house, had hot dogs and cake by the fire pit…while she opened the family gifts. Then she opened the gift I was excited about. I think that she loved it.

The MOMA (Museum Of Modern ART) created a series of Van shoes…and I bought her the Wassily Kandinsky shoes. The were released in August 2020 and are very difficult to find in 2021, but I found a pair! When the shoes arrived I did research on the painting that they are based on. It is titled “Orange”…..and I painted a canvas to match…..but by Tolbert. I loved learning more about Kandinsky. His paintings seem simple but in reality, are complex and confusing. I enjoyed the process of making a companion piece for the shoes.

It was a fun birthday gift to work on and now she has her shoes and painting.

Birthday’s are the best of all holidays. Do you remember a favorite birthday?

Love you beyond the moon.

Donation Bags

Lent is over and my donation bags are in the entry, ready to load into the car and take to Goodwill.

This process was long for me. I donated one item for each day of Lent, it became difficult near the end. Larry surprised me with the new sewing machine that was on my wish list and it arrived last week. I honestly did not count on donating my old machine, but it is the perfect time. Right? The old machine is ready to go and I have said my goodbyes.

I am grateful for my life and the things that surround me. Larry and I are very blessed….

Love you beyond the moon.

Cyril The Bunny

After church yesterday, Larry took me out to Easter dinner. We had a lovely meal at one of our favorite restaurants. Cappuccino’s. The restaurant was busy. It was wonderfully busy! Of course we all were masked and social distanced. Cyril The Bunny has been our centerpiece at Easter dinner for years. Of course he came with us for dinner. (carrying him into the restaurant was interesting, Cyril was quite popular)

The menu was perfection. I had lamb and Larry had veal. I spilled a glass of wine onto Larry’s plate. Thank goodness it was near the end of our meal and he was finished eating.

Then we came home, cuddled up and watched Sense and Sensibility for our Sunday movie. We have watched this movie during important times of our lives, (the day that Jami left for Air Force Boot Camp, was one that will I remember always. She was cuddled on the floor in her Christmas quilt, and watched Sense and Sensibility before leaving us)

It was a joy watching Sense and Sensibility. I cried at the end.

I am glad that it is Monday. Holidays upset me these days….expectations are always difficult.

Love you beyond the moon.

Sharing

This donated tea pot is such a sweet idea, I cannot stand it.

Since Ash Wednesday, each day I donate an item from my closet in the bags that occupy the guest room. There are 3 full bags of clothing, shoes and yarn. There is also a sewing machine. (Larry bought me a new one last month.) So as I donate things from my closet for Lent…I need to find an old tea-pot for the local birds. The old things in my closet ran out weeks ago. I have been donating newer things recently. It is a little difficult. On Monday, I will deliver all of the donation bags to Goodwill.

Sharing our gifts is a joy…..

Have a wonderful weekend.

Love you beyond this moon.
