Sunday Dinner And The New Journal

Photo: Sunday, Dinner and Movie

Yesterday, Sunday, dinner and a movie consisted of tea, Champagne, Champagne soup, sandwiches, scones , gelato and cream puffs. Our movie was “Same Time Next Year”. ( a personal favorite) Larry and I had a lovely day…

Besides blog, I have a real journal. I won the beautiful cover years ago during a chess match while at the beach.

Photo: My Journal

I needed a new refill for this beautiful cover. It is in this journal, that I write all the sorted things that I do not share on the blog. You know what I mean. The somebody done me wrong, stories and also all the good things that look like bragging when written down.

“A personal journal is an ideal environment in which to become. It is a perfect place for you to think, feel, discover, expand, remember, and dream.”

Brad Wilcox

This morning, I will open a new chapter in the journal. It is rather exciting, isn’t it?

My Love

Larry is mowing the the lawn as the drizzle is coming down. How amazing is he?

I haven’t been feeling well, so Larry has been doing my job of planting the summer plants around The Cottage. He is doing the BEST job and everything looks so nice….

Thank you my love….(Larry) for taking such good care of me.

Love you beyond the moon.

In General

Photo: A gentle word, a kind look, a good-natured smile can work wonders and accomplish miracles.

How are you? It is Friday and I wish you a great day and a happy weekend.

Things here are OK, but I am still having trouble with my voice. I have been referred to a Voice Center but the DR cannot see me for 6 weeks. (WHAT?) I have exhausted every contact to get in sooner, but my appointment is still for July 1st. (yes, I am frustrated and anxious. In the mornings, I have a voice but it is weak, by afternoon, the voice is gone.)

The throat/voice DR is not the only one that I am waiting for. It is interesting to me that a person might not be feeling well and they are ultimately left to their own devices because their Dr cannot fit them in. The days of a Primary Care DR having a few emergency appointments saved away… are over. It is a sad commentary on our health system in general.

Only a lighter note, today Larry and I are meeting Matilda and Lauren for lunch. Matilda has requested PF Chang’s for lunch. We will go at Larry’s lunch hour and it will be wonderful seeing Matilda twice in one week. Who cares if I can talk.

It has been a good week. Right?

Love you beyond the moon.

All Three

On Mothers Day weekend, my life was filled with beautiful books.

OCEANIC is a wonderful book filled with the most amazing poetry. For poetry month, my cousin read a book of poetry each day of the month. I asked her for the title of her favorite book of the month. OCEANIC was her pick.

I also loved this book. The poetry was wonderful and it carried me away.

For Mothers Day, Jamison, My daughter gave me…..

Photo: Jane Austen Tiny book is a treasure

This tiny book is filled with Jane Austen quotes. I simply adore it for what it is and that it was a gift from Jami.

The third book is from my dear friend Bobbie. Bobbie and I met when I was a dog sitter for Pets Are Inn. I took care of her beloved Boston Terrier, Ajax very often while Bobbie and her husband traveled to build a house in Michigan. I became very attached to Ajax….and Bobbie is still a dear friend.

I arrived home one day (after throat surgery) to find a box in the porch. I had not ordered anything, and wondered if perhaps it had been delivered to the wrong house?

No, it was this book from Bobbie filled with words to remind me to be …..

GRATEFUL. To be honest, I need this book right now. The pity party has been in full swing and I am just so tired.

I do not know how Bobbie sensed that I needed this book filled with gentle nudges right now. It is a puzzlement. But I appreciate it with all of my heart.

Cousin Violeta, The poems are amazing, Jamison the tiny book fills my heart and Bobbie…I am GRATEFUL for you and our friendship. Thank you, all three. These books are my treasures.

Love you beyond the moon.

Yesterday Was The BEST Day!

Yesterday, In the middle of a bad rain storm, we brought Matilda to Plano to visit for the afternoon. Our first stop was The Plano Parks and Recreation center. (my voice is still gone and I get tired easily but we had the BEST time)

After Larry and Matilda played all of the games at the Rec Center, we came to The Cottage where Larry had to work and Matilda filled me in with all of the knowledge of Pokemon. She carries an encyclopedia of sorts and it has all of the characters listed. I learned so much. Should I download it on my phone???

After Larry was finished working, He and Matilda played Chess. With “Little Hands”…..

Photo: Playing Chess with Little Hands…we all laughed so hard.

Before taking Matilda back home, we went to Outback Steak House for dinner.

She had a Blooming Onion for the first time……

Our afternoon went very fast. Today is quiet. Larry is in his office, the neighbors lawn is being mowed and my keyboard is clicking away.

I think that it is going to be a long day…..

Being Together

Yesterday was a good day. Larry had a full day at work and at lunch time we walked 1 1/2 miles around the outlet mall. Window shopping while I exercise is always wonderful. (the rule is no shopping while exercising)

On the menu for last night, we were to have scrambled eggs and bagels for dinner. We bypassed that to pick up Jersey Mikes Subs and take them to the lake for a picnic. It was busy at the lake. The sky was glorious. Larry and I enjoyed just being together

After our picnic, we came home and started season one and episode one of my favorite Netflix shows. Last Tango In Halifax. We have watched the entire series a few times now. We consider it a “comfort show”….

Have you ever seen it? Larry and I recommend it. I LOVE it.

Sometimes I hear from you, readers. Facebook, email, text. It means the world. Comments let me know that you are “out there” doing fine….

Love you beyond the moon.

Me

Larry, Cary (Grant) and Gene (Kelley)

Yesterday, Larry and I went to church, walked 2 miles at Willow Bend Mall because it was raining and then came home to prepare Sunday, dinner and a movie.

The rain yesterday was frightening. I felt overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of it. The street in front of the house was a river and it moved very fast. I cannot imagine driving in it at all.

Larry helped me with Sunday dinner. We had Kaua’i Chicken and Rice Casserole (recipe from Lihue Kauai friend). Salad. Home made rolls. We were to have fruit parfaits for dessert but we had pigged out on dinner and were stuffed…..and are saving them for tonight or tomorrow. We watched TWO movies yesterday. I think that Larry planned it so that between the wine and the movies, I was distracted. (What a GUY!) We watched Bringing Up Baby (Cary Grant!) and An American In Paris.(Gene Kelley!)

While getting things ready for dinner…the rain got even harder, if that was possible. Larry took the photo below.

I was tense. The magnitude of the storm was frightening. But…we ate our dinner and watched our movies.

I did not take a picture of the entire table yesterday. I think that the weather creeped me out. But the table looked sweet. While Larry and I enjoyed our meal and we prayed that the storms would not hurt anyone or damage any property.

Yesterdays dinner and movie, was somehow different to me. Not just because of the weather but something else. So much is happening in our world, being unsettled is quite normal now, isn’t it?

Love you beyond the moon.

Attitude Changer

I walked yesterday. The Lake was beautiful and in a little way, it reminded me of Lake Tahoe. The sky was so blue and the lake was calm. I walked only one lap around the lake, but that is OK.

Photo: I walked one lap around the lake

One lap is better than not walking at all, right?

We went to my favorite Burger Place for dinner last night. I could not eat all of my burger, but it was so very delicious.

Photo: Last nights burger

I had a glass of wine with dinner last, so I by-passed one of my favorite desserts…. look at this….

photo: The Attitude Changer is my favorite Adult Milkshake!

We had the nicest dinner, we talked a lot and enjoyed being together. Thursdays have always been our favorite day of the week. Yesterday was no exception.

I hope that your week has been going well. Our days are crazy and unpredictable. Finding comfort in “the normal” is not possible. Not yet that is….but I think that a new normal is on its way.

Have a happy weekend.

Love you beyond the moon.

Every Second

This is Matilda’s (our beloved Granddaughter) last week of 4th grade. To celebrate, Larry and I have invited her for the afternoon next week. We will play games, shop and go out to a special dinner before taking her home.

Last evening, while talking about our afternoon with Matilda, Larry looked at me and said, remember when she would reach out and hold our hand when we were out walking? Matilda is wonderful, kind, smart but I will be honest. I miss little Matilda sometimes.

I found the poem below….and love it.

Matilda’s parents have been kind enough to share her with us. It has been a joy. SUCH A JOY.

She is growing up and we have enjoyed every second…

Scarborough Faire

Last Saturday, Larry and I met Lauren, Josh & Matilda and Jamison & Jared at Scarborough Renaissance Festival In Waxahachie, Texas. It was a beautiful day filled with special moments. When the girls were teens, we would go every Mothers Day and this year we made it back. It was glorious.

Photo: The Family Mothers Day 2021

We spent almost the entire day at Scarborough Faire. It was a lot of walking and merriment. I will remember it always.

I did not want anything for Mothers Day except to be together with my family and it was wonderful.
