Yesterday, Larry took me away with him. The highway was empty and we listened to wonderful music as we drove. He took calls and answered emails while we traveled.
We stopped in Temple, Texas at the PFG OPCO to drop off a gift for one of Larry’s bosses, graduating sons. Have you ever been to Temple Texas? There is a Buc-ee’s there and Larry worked out of that city for over ten years. It is small and sleepy.
Onward to Austin…..
Larry asked where I would like to go to lunch. I knew immediately. Chuy’s in Austin. (On Lamar) I have never eaten at this location but it is now one of my favorites! Our food was perfect, as usual and the sweetest person waited on us. Her name was Tori.
Tori was friendly, observant and accommodating. As we thanked her for taking such good care of us, she shared a wee bit of her story.
Tori managed this location until Covid-19 hit. Then she was furloughed and recently she was called back as wait staff. She is so happy to have a job and said that every day, things get better. I wanted to cry for her, but her positive attitude was almost contagious and I have no doubt that soon she will be managing a restaurant again.
As I reflect on our lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, so many people have been let go from their jobs. Personally, this has been difficult for me, to see the hunger and unemployment. But…Every Day gets Better…..right?
God puts certain people into our lives for certain reasons. My prayer is, that I never “miss” the message.
Please have a great day and don’t miss the message meant for you!
Love you beyond my favorite restaurant…CHUY’S
