Horseshoes and Burgers

On my calendar, today reads FIRST DAY ON KAUA’I. I did scratch it out when we postponed the trip, but it is still there, catching my eye every time I look at my agenda.

The sea is my healing place. After my first breast cancer surgery, Larry bundled me up and we flew to Kauai where my favorite cottage in the world was waiting. I took long naps, walked along the beach, had dinner with friends and in general, celebrated life. It is an amazing memory.

I painted my own nails today. The patio door is open and the birds are chirping like crazy. Larry is back in his office. I hear his voice rising and falling in a discussion with his client and I am dressed to take lunch to My Girl Matilda.

Life is basically……wonderful. Larry has a job. We have toilet paper and food. I am in remission and although life is not perfect, it is wonderful. My life was not perfect before March. Why should it be now?

There is a little burger place here in Plano. When we moved here in 1984, Larry became their food supplier. It has always been a favorite restaurant with the family and Wally, the owner is still a good friend. It is this sweet place that Matilda is craving food from today. We will pick up their order and drive the food about one hour to the country. Matilda also requested that Larry bring his horseshoe game.

Today, we may not be hiking on Kauai or swimming at Anini Beach…but who can beat Burgers, horseshoes and my favorite Granddaughter?

Have a wonderful day…. It is within our power to be happy.

Love you beyond the moon.
