Vocal Cords For Dummies And Camp Days

Part One~Vocal Cords

I have had a few surgeries on my throat (parathyroidectomies) and there is a lot scar tissue surrounding the organs that let me talk. I have had trouble speaking for 2 months now and needed to visit a DR.

As promised, I am sharing with you, what I learned from my Dr this week. My DR is a Laryngologist at the famed Baylor Voice Center in Dallas Texas. She numbed my throat and put the scope through my nose and down my throat. We learned that my left vocal cord is paralyzed. I will have another surgery in July to try to fix it….

When we talk, the vocal cords open and close meeting in the center allowing air to go in and out, making the sounds of communication. Because only one of mine works, I have trouble breathing and talking. My oxygen levels are a mess, making me very tired. DR H said that when fixed, my voice will sound different. Larry asked the Dr if I will be able to sing….well, you know the old joke. Larry always makes me smile.

Camp Days

Because I am not 100% yet, we decided that instead of CAMP ROBI being every day for one week, we are going to have Camp Robi one day a week all summer long! I am sure that it will be as fun as usual and this helps Camp Robi last longer!

The first day of Camp Robi was a success! Matilda came to The Cottage and we hung out for a bit, playing games and eating turkey sandwiches for lunch. Then spent the afternoon at PINSTACK, playing games and ending with bowling and dinner.

Matilda won the Camp Robi Bowling challenge. ($20.00) Congratulations Matilda!

Day two of Camp is going to be wonderful too! There is so much to look forward to this summer.

Love you beyond the moon.
