Meet The Quilt Winner

Meet Amanda. Amanda is the winner of the Komen 2020 More Than Pink raffle quilt. Matilda, Larry and I delivered the quilt to Amanda on Saturday afternoon.

Amanda sent this photo to me on Saturday night, saying that she loved the quilt already.

I am sad this years quilt is delivered because I am not sure if I will ever make another. Time will tell.

I would like to thank everyone who donated to this years raffle. It means the world to me. EARLY DETECTION saves lives.

TEAM BELIEVE is alive and supports all of us touched by breast cancer.

Love you beyond the moon and stars.

Me

Indescribable

On Saturday, Matilda and I made a video for North/West Texas Komen Walk as a shout out for TEAM BELIEVE.

I am not good at things like this, but Matilda is a pro and she loves it. (and comes by it naturally)

In 4 weeks (Sept 12th, 2020) the Dream A Dream Quilt will be raffled off. If you are interested and would like to donate To TEAM BELIEVE….please go to the link below and find the information.

If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected]

I took a few shots of the quilt today. It is twin size and hand made by me.

The mermaid block reads…..

“Close your eyes and dream a dream and seek the courage to make it real.

Reflect on the past, envision the future and embrace today with an open heart and soul.”

I loved making this quilt….I made it during treatments for my latest breast cancer journey. The positive feelings that this quilt gave me are indescribable. My wish is, that the positive energy stays with it forever.

I have been fighting breast cancer since July 2012. Now I am in remission.

I found both of my cancers due to early detection. That is why I support Komen. Every woman has the right to have a screening (mammogram) ….it is a matter of life and death. I am the poster girl for early detection.

Dream A Dream Quilt is ready…..please consider supporting early detection. (and becoming the new owner of a quilt)

Love you beyond the stars and moon.

Now, On To Real Life

OK. We are all anxious and frightened about the COVID-19 virus. Personally, I am and I bet you are too.

Instead of whining about it, I plan to be positive. Check on older neighbors and donate food/time/energy, where it is needed. Focus on the positive and ignore the idiotic.

With social media as it is, we have the ability to “be close ” to people but not ever see them. We have the ability to check on all of our friends and neighbors by text or email, buy things and have them delivered. Easy.

I will also be blocking social media friends who are truly upsetting me with their ridiculous posts. I just completed cancer surgery and treatment, I do not need to see your anxiety attacks.

Now on to real life……

The donation quilt top is complete! It is off to the photographer today! I am selling raffle tickets at record speed and we would LOVE more people to walk with Team Believe on May 16, 2020. If you are interested in being part of Team Believe, please email me at [email protected]

The above picture is awful! I took it when I finished the quilt top. Excitement overcame me. Today a photographer will do it justice before it is sent out for a few weeks for finishing touches.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the Team Believe walk on May 16….or the quilt.

Love you beyond the moon.

She

Larry looked at me this morning, and said: I love it when you work on a Komen quilt. It makes you happy.

After he left for work, I thought about what he said. I am always flattered when he compliments me, but this is different. When I am making a Komen quilt, I feel like I am giving back in some small way. {Early detection saves lives. Have your mammogram}

The Komen quilt, that I call “She” for some unknown reason, has been started.

For now, everything is being hand pieced. After I have the blocks pieced, who knows what will happen?

Photo: hand piecing square. One of my favorite blocks. Churn Dash.
Photo: Cluttered work room today.
Photo: Pink tickets and fabric.

Two donations have been made to Team Believe. Thank you Lisa Aven and Judy Dils. I will get your tickets out to you this week.

I wish you a happy day. Perhaps, stop for a moment and look around you? Life is so precious….right now…I am typing but the birds out front are singing so loudly, I can hear them over my keyboard and thank God for the beautiful serenade. {Because of early detection, I am here to enjoy the beauty.}

Have a perfect day.

Love you beyond the churn dash.
