The Last Day Of Autumn

After the garden party on Saturday, while getting into the car,

a ladybug got in with Larry.

It was getting very cold, and we smiled.

Last evening, My Larry and I drove to see the Christmas lights

on Matilda’s house.

During the drive…the ladybug appeared!

The picture is not good, but you can see her up by the window.

The drive north was beautiful. It was the last night of Autumn, with an amazing sunset.

Matilda has the flu….but was her usual adorable self.

We took her a new magnifying glass.

The Miller’s house was decorated beautifully.

Josh did a perfect job on the lights.

~~~~~~~
Yesterday, I found something in the guest-room closet.
A half done coat on my sewing manikin.
The fabric is gorgeous and I think that I will finish it this week.
The fabric is a heavy red linen with embroidery.
Working with this kind of fabric is thrilling
and
I am using a traditional pattern that I like.
Working with a commercial pattern, the project always goes faster for me.
I believe that I am ready for Christmas….are you?
My life seems uneventful
but only to the blind.
Who cannot see the triumphs
I’m having in my mind.
Love you.
Five Golden Rings
On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me,
five Golden rings.
Is it true?
Do we have five days left till the holiest day of the year?
This has been an amazing holiday for me personally.
When we left for France, it was 70 degrees and autumn.
When we returned, Christmas had arrived.
Matilda, ma cherie, is growing at the speed of light.
Lauren and Josh, {our own Raymond & Debra} inspire and entertain us daily.
Jamison is doing ok. I am impressed by her bravery and conviction.
My Larry is exuberant again.
He loves the new position at work and smiles a lot.
As I am finishing the second half of my 5th year, cancer free,
knowing that the joy and love in our hearts and lives
has nothing to do with golden rings or what is under the tree.
It has no monetary value.
It if free to us all
and
we must work very hard to achieve it.
Are you going to give it to someone for Christmas?
Love you.
Once A Year
Once a year, somewhere between returning from France and Christmas eve,
we have a family garden party at the Dallas Arboretum.
This past Saturday was a perfect day.
The temperatures were in the 70’s and the gardens were busy.
We had sandwiches…deviled eggs, fruit, cookies and Champagne.
Matilda had Sprite.
Lauren, Josh, Matilda, Jamison, Larry and I
enjoyed each moment visiting.
Then Matilda would say to Jami: Lets go on an adventure!
They would go to a far off garden in the Arboretum, and come back
ginning and bursting with secrets.
Jami gave Matilda horse back rides.
Lauren, Josh and Matilda posed by the lake.
Matilda is ma cherie. {my darling}
This is my Family.
I hold these moments in my heart.
Don’t buy me  anything for Christmas.
Just give me time with these beloved people.
I know that this year has been difficult for many people.
We must remember that God’s plan might not be our plan.
With that being said,
Please remember that you are loved by so many people.
Including…me.
Love you.
Me
Just A Smile
Yesterday, My Larry and I went to McDonalds and bought 10 gift cards.
{he is taking 5 and I am taking five}
Whenever we see anyone who might need a meal,
a thank you,
a  hug
or a Merry Christmas!
We will give them a card……
maybe you have something you would like to share
with someone in need.
Even if it is just a smile.
Love you,
Me.
Cousin Dale Grandfield
Tomorrow, our cousin Dale Grandfield will be ordained
to the sacred Order Of Priests
at St Paul’s Episcopal Church
in Cleveland, Ohio.
Larry Tolbert asked if he could be guest blogger today,
and share something for this occasion.
A Child’s Face
Child’s Face~ Rodin Musee Paris
It is always exciting to watch children’s eyes
as they talk about Santa and if they were naughty or nice.
This is the second year that My Larry and I have not decorated the house.
I wonder if this an  old people thing
or just Larry and me being kooky?
We are happy and filled with Christmas spirit,
just without a tree.
Today is holiday baking day.
I started cooking an hour ago and  The Cottage smells lovely.
It is going to be a fun, weekend filled with
Santa, the 12 days  of Christmas, love and family.
Please have a happy weekend.
Love you beyond family, Christmas celebrations!
Like Crazy
img_3379
Have you ever been in love?
{don’t you adore that Peter Cetera song?}
I have been in love with the same man for 2/3 rds of my life. {over forty years}
I never get tired of him or his voice.
When he is away, like he is today…I want to stay still till he comes home.
Then I can move again.
Hurry home, sir.
Missing you like crazy.
Love you beyond heart shaped leaves on the sidewalks of Paris.
Me
Is It?
Last Christmas, Larry gave me a gift certificate for a Swedish massage.
During the year, I get my hair done and manicures,
massages while traveling and reflexology once a week.
But, it seems that I am a hoarder.
A hoarder of gift certificates.
I LOVE them so  and hate to use them.
There is a Spa that I like very much, The Woodhouse Day Spa.
That is where my gift was from, and yesterday, I cashed it in.
01
I had the most amazing morning being pampered and massaged.
I feel wonderful today.
{Really Wonderful!}
Last night, Larry said: I am not giving you gift certificates anymore.
I said: Why not?
He said: You keep them till they almost expire.
He said: Just get a massage when you want one.
Somehow, that just isn’t the same.
Is it?
Love you.
A Most Excellent Sleepover
img_3476
Last Friday, Matilda slept over at our house for the first time.
She was perfect.
I expected a little homesickness, but, no.
She made herself at home in the guest room.
img_3479
She and Larry put the tent up around dinner-time.
img_3482
After dinner, we made hot chocolate, bundled up in blankets
and read stories in the tent. It is so much fun.
img_3483
After freezing in the tent, we came inside put our P-J’s on.
Matilda got into bed, Larry sat in the chair and I read books….
evidently I was so boring. They both fell sound asleep.
img_3486
Christmas Krispy Kreams were served for breakfast,
while we played board games and watched
Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.
It was a most excellent sleep over
and I cannot wait for ma cherie to come visit again.
Love you.
A Perfect Weekend
The weekend was perfection.
Matilda spent the night on Friday night.
img_3477
She played in the guest room at the doll house for hours
and we had a fun time.{it was her first sleep over}
Saturday, found us all {Lars, Josh, Matilda, Jami, Larry and myself}
at the Main Event in Plano,
celebrating my Larry’s birthday.
{we bowled and then Matilda played the games}
On Sunday we went with Matilda to see Santa.
img_3488
I LOVE how she is looking at Santa!
When we came home….Larry and I took a walk.
I hope that this does not offend anyone,
we call this  walk: The White Trash Walk.
It is a few mile hike to our local Neighborhood Wall Mart.
I buy things and carry the bags home,
looking like a homeless person.
Larry says that we look like white trash.
Yesterday we carried home a bird feeder, bird food
and we had visitors already this morning!
img_3491
While Larry has been off, at meetings and lunching with clients today,
I finished Jamison’s Christmas gift
and
will start knitting another hat for Matilda.
She said: I would like a FOX hat for Christmas.
I said: Maybe you should ask Santa.
She said: He does NOT know how to make it, only Robi can make it.
That conversation still makes me smile.
Today is make a knitted FOX hat for ma cherie.
How excellent can any request be?
I Love Christmas.
Love you beyond ribbons and wrapping paper.
